Originally incorporated on Oct 17th 2012 Craft Of Hearts began it’s life as a Social Enterprise with full community aims.

It’s main aims were to offer craft activities to members of the local and wider communities which would enable them to learn and grow in emotional and practical terms. We applied for and were granted some funds from the ERDF Social Enterprise scheme and offered employment and volunteer opportunities. That funding lasted just 2 years and although we had to pull back on employment we retained our status as a volunteering organisation. This is fundamental to our continued activities.

We currently offer subsidised activities to many community/health groups both in-house and on an outreach basis. All of our activities are supported by volunteers and we welcome new members to our ‘happy home of hobbies’!

We also offer workshops to groups and individuals who wish to pursue general crafts or more specific art activities.
Craft Of Hearts is one of the few remaining bricks and mortar independent art and craft stores in RCT and whilst we are very small we also support other embryonic local businesses to develop and grow.

GTFM serves the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough, centred where the Rhondda and Taff Valleys meet. It’s an area famous for it’s coal mining heritage, plus Male Voice Choirs and Rugby alongside Tom Jones and The Stereophonics!

GTFM echoes it’s area’s ‘larger-than-life’ personality and directly encourages listeners to get involved in the community, especially through volunteering.

It’s ‘Music of your Life plus local news’ approach has made it the market leading radio station in its primary area, which in turn helps GTFM ‘make a difference’ in the communities it serves.

Founded in 1999, GTFM started full-time broadcasts in 2002 as part of a Radio Authority ‘Access Radio’ trial on a not-for-profit basis, later becoming a registered charity and the first Ofcom Community Radio licensee Wales in 2006.

We help people over 50 make healthier choices about alcohol as they age. We do this through one to one support in peoples homes or accessible venues in the community. We facilitate peer support meetings and a wide variety of social opportunities. We support families, friends and carers affected by someone else’s drinking. We directly campaign to the public and employers. Through all our work we challenge discriminatory and stigmatizing attitudes towards drinking in older adults.
