Community Group Helps Firefighters During Summer Heat

A local community group is helping the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service during the very warm summer holidays, by collecting donations of water, snacks and deliver these to fire crews on site at the scene of mountain fires across the area.

The South Wales Community Mountain Rangers have been accepting donations from shops like Iceland and the Co-op in Treorchy and the Spar in Ton Pentre, and as a result they have a stock of 500 bottles water in storage at the moment, and snacks such as chocolate bars, crisps, and more.

Adrian Dugdale of the South Wales Community Mountain Rangers said “We decided that we will try do this to support [the] fire service”, and to “get them to fire crews on site at the scene fires”.

The community group are, however, always looking for volunteers. You can either get in touch with them via their Facebook page, or you can send them an email at contact@swcmr.org.uk
